Child Development & Education - MSc with Thesis

Aim

  • To educate child development and education specialist who is competent in the field of Child Development and Education and research and reached to the universal level nationally and internationally.

*  CGE 501 - Child Development and Education Seminar

*  CGE 503 - Theories of Child Development

  • The course aims to teach the students the fundamentals of developmental psychology, developmental perspective and developmental theories in order to understand and realize the milestones and critical periods in a child’s life. 

*CGE 505 - Sexual Development and Education

  • Students attend the course are expected to understand the importance of sexual development and education and to use the knowledge effectively while working with children.

* CGE 507 - Language Development in Early Childhood

  • The course aims to teach the students therotical approaches and current research in language development in infancy and preschool years.

* CGE 508 - Behaviour Disorders of Children

  • The course aims to teach the students assessment, diagnosis and classification of behavior disorders of children, educational treatment of children behavior disorders.

* CGE 512 - Child Education and Creativity

  • The aim of this course is to develop childrens creativity by applying activities.

*  CGE 515 - Parent-Child Relations

  • Students attended the course are expected to understand parent-child relations and role of the parents for the development of child, and to be able to develop measures and provide relevant parental counselling in line with such roles.

*CGE 519 - Sensory Education in Early Childhood

  • Supporting the development of normally developing children and children with special needs whose ages are among 0-6, with sensory education programs.

*CGE 520 - Play And Play Materials in Childhood Education I

  • In this lecture the students gain the knowledge of play, the history of play and the effects of play on the development of children and use these knowledge for practising and evaluating.

*CGE 521 - Play And Play Materials in Childhood Education II

  • The expectation from students at the end of the lecture is to gain the basic information about examination, observation and practising about toy and toy materials in world and in Turkey, the history of toy and toy materials, the effects of toy and play materials on child development.

*CGE 522 - Educating and Advising Families of Preschool Children

  • At the end of the course, students are expected to have advanced knowledge about family guidance and to be able to guide families due to their needs about their children.

*CGE 529 - Development Psychology

  • The course aims to teach the students the fundamentals of developmental psychology, developmental perspective and developmental theories in order to understand and realize the milestones and critical periods in a child’s life.

*CGE 532 - Computer Aided Education in Pre-School and Elementary Schools

  • The course is to familiarize students with computer aided education at pre-school and elementary school level and inform the students to acquire a systematic level of knowledge in the subject. Furthermore to help them gain expert level knowledge and recognition in implementing teaching techniques and computer aided education methods and integrating them within the curriculum.

*CGE 540 - The Assessment of Language Development of Children

  • During the course, principally physiological basis and evolution of language and speech and several hypothesis on this topic will be discussed. In addition assessment and evaluation techniques of language and speech skills will be examined by normative and non-normative assessment techniques in relation to phonology, morphology, syntax and pragmatics individually.

*CGE 543 - Application of Early Childhood Education Programmes

  • In this course human side of administration is discussed.

*CGE 547 - Motor Development and Education

  • To teach students the basic terms related with motor development, to make them gain the abilities of evaluation of the factors affecting motor development, application of the evaluation techniques of the motor development, arrangement of the environment and activities to support motor development.

*  CGE 552 - Practicum in Resource Methods and Techniques in Child Development and Education

  • At the end of the lecture, expecting to student developing hypothesis and developing suitable research proposal.

*CGE 573 - Multiple Intellegence Theory

  • In this course the subjects such as principles of multiple intelligence theory, using multiple intelligence theory in teaching and education and developing educational programs according to multiple intellengence theory will establish.

*CGE 577 - Introduction to Education Administration

  • This course aims to build an understanding which will provide basis of various aspects of education administration; to define the situations and incidents encountered in administration process, and to equip them with problem solving skills.

*CGE 580 - Early Childhood Art Education

  • To provide self esteem and to learn interaction skills with children by art activities.

*CGE 583 - Children’s Drawings As Diagnostic Aid

  • Primary aim of the course is to provide students knowledge and experience on children’s drawings in order to assess social, emotional, cognitive and motor difficulties and guide families for further proffesional support.

*CGE 594 - Educational Approaches in Early Childhood Period

  • The course systematically examines existing ordinary curriculums and educational approaches in essence for early childhood and their suitability for the nation’s children in view of age, developmental state and environmental conditions and enhancing existent approaches for practical applicability.
