Description and terminology of developmental, theories of developmental psychology are studied in detail. Prenatal development and birth, physical, mental, social and affective development of children during infancy, early childhood, middle childhood and adolescence period are studied and argued.

Sense organs and physiology of the special senses. General senses. Physiology of the nervous system. Central and peripheral divisions.

In this course the definition, the purposes, the methods and principles of preschool education and different approaches in this area are being discussed.

Description, history, theories, developmental characteristics, importance, contributions to development, types of play; methods of child assessment via play; play as teaching method; description of play materials according to child age and developmental characteristics; contributions of play materials to child’s development; ideal features of play materials; and selection criteria of play materials; creating creative materials.
BES 213-01 Maternal And Infant Nutrition 2 0 2
Methods used in nutritional assessment of individuals and community groups. Nutrition in pregnancy and during lactation, physiologic demands of gestation, general problems and nutritional needs. Infancy from birth to 1 year, breast feeding, nutritional requirements, nutrition in childhood and adolescence. Nutritional principals and therapies in acute and chronic diseases, malnutrition, malabsorbtion and metabolic disorders.

AIT 203-91 Atatürk’s Principles and History of Turkish Revolution I 2 0 2
Reform movements as a reaction to decline and disintegration of the Ottoman Empire caused by political, social, cultural and socio-psychological problems that emerged as a result of the encounter of the western and Turkish cultures; political events during the transitional period from the Ottoman Empire to the national state and the foundation of the Turkish Republic following the national struggle led by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

The content of this course is; the types of children's literature, the content, the illustration and the physical characteristics of story books, the story telling techniques.

In this course the students find the opportunity for applying the theoretical knowledge that have gained in the course of ÇGE 201.

Theoretical information is given on choosing art activities, preparing programs, organize applications to develop and support creativity, reinforce them in activities according to the developmental skill level of the preschool children.
