This course consists; drug addiction, addiction progress process, reasons for drug addiction and struggle against drug addiction.

Assessment and diagnosis of behavior disorders of children will be  introduced to the student in this course. Genetic, prenatal, perinatal demographic, postnatal, social psychological factors and  classifications of behavior disorders will be examined. In addition prevention and play therapy and other educational therapy techniques of children behavior disorders will be focused.

Theoretical contents of this course consists of the following topics: observation as an assessment technique in developmentally appropriate settings, observation techniques, observations in different activity areas, description of the assessment; “Why, when, how do teachers make observation?”, “How do teachers assess the results of observations?”. The practical content of the course covers evaluation applications on normally developing children and children who need special education by using various observational techniques in different activity areas.

ÖZE 603 Language Impairments of Handicapped Children          3     0    3
Within this course, each impairment group, mental retardation, chromosomal anomalies (Down Syndrome, Fragile-X Syndrome), language learning disabilities, specific language impairment, early expressive language delay, acquired disorders of communicative function  (brain injury, aphasia), autism/pervasive developmental disorders, language disorders associated with sensory deficits  (hearing impairment, visual impairment), disoders with environmental components (neglect and abuse), communication in psychiatric disorders (behavioural- socio-emotional disorders , selective mutism), shall be described and disscussed according to language characteristics (phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics) and possible casual factors (biological, social-environmental and processing factors).

This lesson will be beneficial and will help to use music education more successfully and effectively in many handicapped children. In this course the following will be discussed. The aims of music education, the techniques of music education, the theories of music education, the plan and apply musical activities of handicapped children, to plan different activities
according to groups, the relation of music education and the developmental fields.

ÖZE 69l  Case Studies with Cerebral Palsied Children           1                6             3
Programmes and educational strategies for training the Cerebral Palsied children. Programmes consist of five elements. These elements are defining the family; developmental evaluation of the child, assigning the goals; designing the strategies appropriate for these goals and applying appropriate training programmes. Basicly four approaches used in planning these programmes sequencing task analyses; mainly one activity and its interactions with other developmental areas; integrated activities for multiple purposes; various activities for approaching a main goal.
