History

The Department of Child Development was founded in 1968, as a part of The Faculty of Health Science, Hacettepe University. The Special Education Division was founded on December 23, 1982 after completion of relevant infra-structural studies continued since 1976. So the Department has continued its activities in two areas as: "Division of Child Development and Education" and "Division of Special Education", and the graduates have been awarded B.Sc. degree in Child Development and Education since 1982. It also provides graduate programs in "Child Development and Education" and "Special Education" and a doctorate program in "Child Development and Education".

PS: The title of Child Development and Education was changed as Child Health and Education by a resolution of YÖK (Board of Higher Education) on March 4, 1987, and then re-changed as Child Development and Education by a resolution of YOK on March 23, 1996.
